In my personal opinion nothing will happen if you choose to trade with small lots, the minimum deposit is just for secure if a very big move happened in the market, which i think it is rare to happen.

The default setting is for 4 digits broker, for 5 digits add 0 to parameters

The EA can trade during news but you must have a strict money management plan, but it is better fo all EAs to avoid as much as you can trading during high impact news.

Regarding the VPS, i do not think it can work without ON/OFF

Did you performed the BT on 5 digit broker? if yes, did you adjusted the EA properties befor BT?

If you are trading with 5 digits broker, you have to add 0 to the parameters, regarding the lot size, it will depend on your capital but be conservtive as much as you can.
