Ok, I have dug into the decompiled source code to make a few tweaks.
I've found that the mysterious Volatility Ratio is simply the current D1 Bar-Close - Bar-Open.
There's no reason to think that red, negative volatility values should be avoided, as suggested in other forums.
The volatility value will of course change throughout the day until its bar closes.
At MT4 server's start of day (esp Monday), an hour or two of time should be allowed to pass until restarting the ea -- markets are adjusting and the D1 bar forming.
