It depends on how wrong is your wrong direction?

1. If short term wrong direction, but still in the trend, then martingale will helps.

2. If you are totally wrong, the trend will just never return, or the trend has changed, you can cut loss.

3. If you are not sure the trend has changed, you can try anti-martingale (sure fire strategy). High risk.
